welcome

My name is Jo Forss and I am an independent Optometrist. My practice is located in the country town of Malmesbury, Wiltshire.

We recognise that you have an abundance of choice in today’s optical market. For this reason we are keen to explain why we believe our practice is the right choice for you and your family's needs.

We take pride in our status as an independent practice. This means we are able to offer our patients a caring professional service, matched by our ability to source quality products and services appropriate to your needs.
We aim to exceed your expectations.

We do not allocate vast resources to advertising and promotions to generate a flow of new patients, instead, we rely on satisfied patients who return again and again, and recommend us to their family and friends.

A myth exists that independent practices are always more expensive and lack choice.  At J M Forss Opticians, you will always find a comprehensive selection of frames and lenses, coupled with a value for money pricing policy.

We are committed to providing our patients with the highest standard of eye care. Our job is not only to ensure that your vision is at its best, but also to check the health of your eyes. We have recently installed a state-of-the-art Digital Retinal Camera which allows us to take photographs of the back of the eye enabling a much more detailed examination than before.

  • A comprehensive eye examination including screening and diagnostic tests and referral for medical care, if necessary.
  • Advice on Eye Health and Safety whether at work or play.
  • Information on the visual development of children.
  • A copy of your spectacle correction.
  • Expert advice on frames and lenses to suit your needs.
  • Spectacles and contact lenses fitted by qualified staff.
  • Digital Retinal Screening.
  • 12 month guarantee on ALL of our spectacles against faulty manufacture.
  • Binocular visual field screening to DVLA requirement.

The practice here at 57 High Street, was originally opened by Mr. David Ivel Rees in 1967.
Mr. Rees retired in January 2000 after a long and successful career.
I took over the practice in April 2001, when ongoing refurbishment began.
At the end of 2009, the practice underwent a major refit in order to create a modern interior with the added bonus of air conditioning, making the practice a more comfortable place to be.

We are proud to be part of the national Sight Care group.

It is a non-profit organization designed to support independent practitioners.  Sight Care's mission is to help promote excellence within independent optical practices.

Being a member gives us access to exclusive quality products at reasonable prices, which are passed on to the customer.
