Contact Lenses

Our practice provides a comprehensive contact lens fitting scheme for all types of rigid and soft lenses at very competitive prices. With over 20 years of contact lens fitting experience, we are confident to provide a first class service. We can supply different packages depending on your needs. Lenses can be purchased outright or on a monthly basis. Recent advances have allowed the majority of prescriptions to be fitted with contact lenses.

If you would like to discuss the option of contact lens wear, your initial appointment is absolutely free! In many cases we can provide a free trial period so you could take the lenses away and try them at home without obligation. Wearing contact lenses does put the eye slightly more at risk of eye infections however with modern lenses and care regimes, serious infections are extremely rare.

Gas Permeable Contact Lenses
These are the modern version of the old hard lenses. They are made of a semi-rigid material which allows oxygen to pass through the lens. These lenses provide excellent vision, are hard wearing and can last over one year. However, initially they can take a little longer to adapt to than soft lenses.

Soft Contact Lenses
Soft lenses are the most popular type of contact lens prescribed today. They are made of a soft material that allows oxygen through the lens to the front of the eye. They are easy to adapt to, comfortable to wear and can provide a flexible wear schedule. To keep the eyes healthy most soft lenses are disposable.

Monthly disposable contact lenses
These lenses are designed to wear during the day then removed and cleaned each evening. After one month they are thrown away and a new pair inserted. As an independent optician we can choose the best lenses and solutions for you from a wide range of manufacturers, our prices include the cost of lenses, solutions and all your aftercare visits.

Daily disposable contact lenses
These soft lenses are designed to be used only once and then thrown away. They do not require any cleaning and as a new fresh pair is worn every day they give good comfort and vision. An extremely convenient and healthy way to wear lenses. Daily lenses are extremely popular with part time wearers and can cost as little as 80p per pair

Bifocal Contact Lenses
The major development of contact lenses over the last few years is the launch of several new bifocal/multifocal contact lenses. These lenses are designed to correct both the long distance and reading vision simultaneously. Soft bifocal lenses are available in both disposable and standard fitting types. Gas permeable bifocal lenses are also now available

Contact Lenses for Astigmatism
Astigmatism is irregular curvature of the cornea and can be corrected by using a more specialist design of contact lens called a toric contact lens. These lenses are available in both gas permeable and soft lens types including monthly and daily disposable wear schedules. They provide a better vision and fit when you have an astigmatic correction

Coloured contact lenses
Coloured lenses change or enhance the eye colour. They are usually supplied in a disposable form and there are over 40 colour to choose from, not including the crazy lenses.

Aftercare
When we supply your contact lenses you can join our aftercare scheme. We recommend aftercare visits on either a 6 or 12 month basis depending on your lens type and wear schedule. Aftercare visits are extremely important as not only do we check the vision, fit and condition of your lenses more importantly we check the health of the eyes and how well they are tolerating the contact lenses.
